Home » Royal Decree King Ferdinand II of Aragon
Date: 31 May 1506
This document, signed by King Ferdinand II, decrees and grants our ancestor Giovanni Carafa(Joannem Carrafam) the County of Policastro and an annuity of 200 Ducats.
The concession was in recognition of glorious military duties in favour of King Ferdinand, for having defended the Kingdom of Sicily against the French.
The title of Count of Policastro is to be passed down to Giovanni’s descendants for ever more.
Ferdinand II and his wife Isabelle of Castille, sponsored Christopher Columbus’ exploratory voyage to the Indies, leading to the establishment of colonies on the American continent.
